How to swap a face in your own video on Mac
By the Morphiqo team · Updated
To swap a face in your own video on Mac, add a replacement portrait as Source face and the clip as Target in Morphiqo. Choose the person to replace, check the preview across the clip and export when satisfied. Processing stays on your Mac and works offline after initial setup; previewing is free and export requires Pro.
Before you start
macOS 14 or later on an Apple silicon or Intel Mac. Internet access for installation and initial setup, plus free disk space for the source clip and exported result.
Use your own images or get permission from the people involved. Keep your originals and review the result before sharing.

1Prepare a short clip and finish setup
Install Morphiqo from the Mac App Store and finish the initial download while online. Start with a short video so you can judge the result before committing to a longer export.
Use a clip saved on your Mac. If it is in cloud storage, make sure the complete file has downloaded. Keep the original, and allow space for the edited copy.
2Add the source portrait and target video
Choose a portrait in Source face. This is the face that will appear in the result. Pick an image with a clearly visible face and suitable lighting; if the portrait contains several faces, select the one you intend to use.
Add your own clip in Target. This is the video being edited, not the source portrait. Use consenting subjects and media you have permission to change.
3Choose who changes and compare the preview
Under Which face, use One for a single person or Choose to select particular faces in a group. Confirm the selection in the preview so an unintended person is not replaced.
Scrub through the clip rather than judging only its first frame. Look at head turns, profile views, movement and obstructions. Compare the original with the result; if necessary, try a different portrait or adjust Resemblance and Edge softness before checking again.
4Export and inspect the saved video
Previewing is free; exporting requires Morphiqo Pro. Check the current price inside the app, and handle a purchase or restore while connected to the internet. Face-swap processing itself stays on your Mac.
Choose Export Video and let the app finish. Processing time depends on your hardware, the clip length, frame rate and selected settings. Start with a short export to see how your own Mac behaves instead of assuming a fixed speed.
Open the saved video and check its picture and sound before sharing. Keep the original file, and make clear that the shared result is edited when viewers could otherwise mistake it for genuine footage.
If something does not work
- An export is taking longer than expected
- Longer clips, higher frame rates and more demanding settings add work. Try a shorter section first and use the app’s progress display to judge the current job.
- The wrong person is changing
- Review Which face and select the intended person. For group scenes, use Choose and inspect multiple points in the timeline.
- The source portrait has several people
- Select the intended source face or use a portrait with only that person clearly visible. The target and source selections are separate.

Common questions
Does Morphiqo support Intel Macs?
Yes. Morphiqo supports Apple silicon and Intel Macs running macOS 14 or later. Processing performance varies by hardware and settings.
Does the Mac workflow upload my video?
No. The native Mac app processes your selected photos and videos locally. Initial setup downloads processing files; it does not send your video away for editing.
Can I use the same workflow for a photo?
Yes. Use a still photo as Target instead of a video, choose the person and inspect the preview. Exporting the edited photo also requires Pro.
